Pre-Puppy Consultations Behavior ConsultationS PRIVATE LESSONS day training Walk ‘N TrainS Rescue/ Shelter Services

Bringing home a new puppy is a significant decision that involves not only the animal but the commitment of the family. A pre-purchase puppy consultation can help ensure you are making an informed decision, that you are bringing home the right breed and that your house is set up the day you bring them home. Our consultation session can help to guarantee a confident start in life for the new pet and family.

During this kind of consultation we cover:
What to expect during the new home acclimation period, potty training, puppy proofing your home for success, confinement spaces, the importance of crate training, the importance of socialization, discussing management strategies, and address your goals and any concerns.

Pre-Puppy Consultations

(There will be an extra $30.00 charge for behavior consults involving 2 or more dogs. Appointment may run 30 minutes longer.)

What is it?
We will review your dogs behavior questionnaire with you. We speak with you, the owner and other family members within the home during this time. Any friends or family that do not live in the home but take care of your dog are welcome to be present.

During your dog's consultation there is an evaluation, interaction, and observation of your dog's behavior within the home, and/ or neighborhood. Depending on if there are any problematic behavior issues, we may get you started on some hands-on training exercises immediately, before your first official lesson.

The Tough Stuff - Challenging Behavioral Problems
Fear, aggression, food & object guarding, separation anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorders may not be resolved through one or two sessions with a trainer. These behavioral problems may take a lot of time (6 months to a year), effort, patience, and commitment. We understand how overwhelmed you may feel, and we have helped countless families feel empowered in the direction they take for their dog.

If during your consultation it is decided that your dog falls into one or more of these categories, the level of complexity will be assessed and thoroughly explained. You will be given all possible options for your situation, including non-training options as well. We ask that you remain open minded during this process.

Quality of life and safety issues for all humans and animals involved in the household is taken into consideration when discussing all available options.

Behavior Consultation

We offer private dog training, in the comfort of your own home. Private lessons give you hands-on help and a custom made training plan to reach your specific goals.

Services include but are not limited to:
Puppy socialization and training, all-age basic or advanced obedience training, leash manners, leash reactivity, household manners, trick training, separation anxiety, aggression, resource guarding, multi dog house hold integration, and more!

For private lessons, there is a mandatory consultation and evaluation. This usually lasts 60 minutes. During this time our trainer will perform a temperament test, ask about your dog, behavior goals, go over an in-depth history intake, and map out a training plan with you.

At the end of your initial consult, you'll schedule your first training lesson. When your dog is ready, we do offer field trip training sessions and day training.

PRIVATE LESSONS

What is it?
Let us do some of the hard work for you. We take your dog out for 2 to 3 hours during the day and take field trips to different locations. This program is customized for each individual owner/ dog situation. Though the program is designed for the trainer to do the bulk of the work, the owner is required to follow management instructions and practice training exercises between sessions.

Day training uses a combination of intensive hands on training, play, and exercise to achieve a better, more well behaved dog.

Day training is perfect for:

  • Busy owners with limited time to train their dog themselves.

  • For owners who want to get the most training and exposure, in the shortest amount of time.

  • For multi dog households where it can be tough to get any training done OR where dogs could use some time away from each other

  • For dogs who could use help with building independence away from owners (separation anxiety cases)

  • For dogs who can’t or should not go to daycare (reactivity, not vaccinated, too young, not spayed/neutered)

Prerequisites
You must have already had a 1 hour in person consultation and first lesson with your trainer before booking day training.
